Changing Spaces

“Change your thoughts and you change your world.”
Norman Vincent Peale

Synonyms for Space:

Room
Breathing Space
Freedom
Liberty
Legroom

Change the way you think about your space. Change the way you think about your belongings. If you believe that everything that you own is an integral part of your being, then you are bound to your things. Decide that your things are just things. They should serve you. Every time you try to figure out how to store more, you build a house for your possessions. Concentrate on building room for yourself. Decide that space is essential and you will discover that you want less of what you own.

I love this notion. Whenever I feel constricted in my life, I open my closets and drawers and get rid of things. Certainly it helps to clear stuff out (I live in something slightly larger than a shoe), but I find that getting rid of things, reminds me of my own lightness of spirit. In the past I thought the relief came from my secret desire to be a nonconformist gypsy, but looking at this blog I finally understand its because I'm making space for my being within my life. No wonder it makes me feel lighter.
