Standing Files

Use standing file sorters to organize desktop papers. Horizontal letter trays cause build up and become a place to shove papers. Generally, the top level is the only tray that gets used. You can't see what's in the other levels unless you pull the papers out of the trays and sort through them.

Vertical or standing file sorters make it easy to see your papers. This way, you have a reminder of what needs attending to and you can accomplish more. Use file sorters that have no more than three sections. The fewer sections the less accumulation and the neater your desk will be.

Muji makes the ideal desktop file sorter called the "Plastic Divider Stand." It’s opaque white, has clean lines and a simple design.
